Kit Kat of Japan

adverse side
I am going to introduce Japanese sweets, snacks, refreshments and so on.

First I want to show you a Japanese typical chocolate, Kit Kat.

However Kit Kat was born in York originally.

It was developed by the confectionery maker Rowntree's which was in York.

In 1911 the company filed for the trademark registration of "Kit Cat" and "Kit Kat", but it did not immediately use this name for  the chocolate.

In the 1920s the company used the brand name "Kit Cat" for a boxed chocolate, but in the early 1930's it did a product concentration for the other product which were "Black Magic" and "Dairy Box", so Kit Kat was not produced.

The company began to develop the chocolate bars which had the same shape of now and wafers bundled with four bars because it had proposals of the worker.

The proposal was that chocolate bars that were easily brought to the office with a lunch box should be developed.

On August 29, 1935, Rowntree's started selling the new product by the name of Rowntree's Chocolate Crisp in London and South England.

Chocolate Crisp was a big hit, but in 1937 it was renamed Kit Kat Chocolate Crisp easy-to-remember.

In June 1988, Rowntree's was bought out by Nestle and Nestlé took over selling Kit Kat.

Now in Japan Kit Kat is made by Nestle Japan limited and it have developed various flavor such as White chocolate, Uji green tea, Roji tea, wasabi, strawberry, yogurt, giant pine, Yubari melon, mango, Shinshu apple etc.

Those products are usually limited time offer.

Japanese people are a lot familiar with Kit Kat and I think many visitors to Japan are able to find some unique flavor Kit Kat.
